2012 CH2M Hill Training

TAF announces the upcoming CH2M Hill Training that will take place mid-March 2012 in King Salmon.  CH2M Hill will provide participants with the specific skills required to obtain jobs as General Maintenance Technicians (GMT's).  First year GMT's average $50,000 annually (regular pay plus overtime), which immediately provides the participant with the opportunity to earn at least the average annual wage in Alaska.  GMT's will typically work two 80 hour work weeks with two weeks off.

Training is Industry Specific and will result in industry-recognized skills and certifications through the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER).  Successful completion of all training courses will most likely result in employment for participants.  Students will receive hands-on training from journeyman level instructors.  These three weeks of training will be designed for students desiring careers in general maintenance.  Class dates are to begin March 18, 2012.  Twenty applicants will be selected and all successful graduates will be considered for employment. 

Mininum requirements:  An Alaskan Resident; 18 years or older; Completed high school or have GED; Valid Alaska Driver's License with access to 5 years driving record; Must pass a drug check indicator; and Unemployed, underemployed, or need job skills training to become or remain self-sufficient wage earner.

Intern Opportunity

The Aleut Foundation is looking for interns for the First Alaskans Institute 2012 Summer Intern Program.  This is a ten week intern program to provide Alaska Natives who are college juniors/seniors/graduate students in good academic study, with work experience in the intern’s field of study and intensive leadership development training.  Interns will spend two weeks in Anchorage participating in leadership training and will be placed with statewide employer partners for eight weeks.  Please contact TAF or FAI as soon as possible because SPACE IS LIMITED.  Applications are due March 16, 2012!
